I feel like I’ve done this particular twisted half up hair style at a few events, like the ACM awards, and similarly at #SBScon for our welcome party. I sadly haven’t been able to recreate this myself so I’m on a mission to take Rachel’s tips and master this bad boy. I know it isn’t difficult, step by step guide below, but there’s something challenging about pinning the back of your hair and making it stay. I guess practice makes perfect, so I’m going to start taking my own tips with my hair tutorials and making them part of my routine. I did finally master this fishtail halfsie and wore it out to dinner a few nights ago wth girlfriends. I was SO proud of myself. It’s a lot easier to just pin back a braid in my opinion, a twist is a little more tricky. But here’s how Rachel did it!
Step 1. Start with loose waves, you can see my tutorial here.
Step 2. Take one section of your hair by the temple and twist it upwards and back to the crown of your head. Secure with a pin.
Step 3. Take the section on the other side of your head and repeat step 2.
Step 4. Tuck the ends in under the other twist and secure with a pin.
Step 5. Pull a few pieces out in front of your face to loosen up the look.
