Fall slime recipe for fall science and fall sensory play

We fell in love with slime this year! We have used this homemade slime recipe over and over again and it has not failed us yet! It is so simple, you will have awesome slime in 5 minutes that you can play with over and over again. This slime recipe is so quick, you can stop at the grocery store and pick up what you need today. You may even have it already! I am looking forward to all the fun ways to play with our homemade slime this year. Make sure to see all our Fall Science and Sensory Ideas!

WHAT IS SLIME?

Is it a liquid or a solid? It stretches but then it breaks. It makes a ball and bounces. It feels slimy and wet, but it isn’t! These are some of the interesting observations my five year old made as we explored this slime recipe. Read a little more in depth here about polymers and chemistry. We aren’t quite there yet but sure had a lot of fun just the same! make sure to read our Slime Science for Young Kids.

SUPPLIES:

Just a few supplies are needed for this fall slime. Certainly adding confetti, leaves, and sequins will give it a festive touch, but it is fun to play with just as it is. Make sure to grab our homemade liquid starch slime recipe to get started. There are step by step instructions to make the perfect fall slime. Click the black button below to see recipe instructions!

  • Liquid Starch
  • Water
  • food coloring {red and yellow to make orange}

Around here, slime has become a bit of must do sensory play every day! My son loves the whole process of creating slime. Our fall slime is all about leaves and Thanksgiving. Engaging in slime sensory play together gives us a nice opportunity to sit and talk about Thanksgiving and what it means to be thankful while our hands are busy. Tactile sensory play has so many wonderful benefits for young kids. Our ultimate guide to sensory play will tell you all about it!
