iOS 10 has revealed a TON of changes for your iPhone. They’ve basically overhauled the entire iPhone operating system, including some amazing upgrades to your messages. Check out these iOS 10 tips and tricks to get the most out of your iPhone update!

iOS 10 Tips and Tricks

Raise to Wake

With the new iOS you do not have to press any buttons to check your notifications! You can go to settings>display & brightness>raise to wake (turn this on) and wa-la you’re all set. This can be really handy when you’re in a meeting, out with friends, or have your hands all dirtied up making cupcakes. This, I think, is my favorite iOS 10 tip!

Video Settings

When you decide to download videos with iOS 10 you can select to download with the best possible setting available or a lower setting. This will save you tons of bandwidth and data and is definitely a great upgrade to this new operating system.

Delete Stock Apps

Hallelujah! Finally, after long last, there is an iOS where you can delete the stock apps. I don’t know about you but I have never had a need to use the stocks app and it feels pretty great to know that iOS 10 will let me delete that sucker!

In iOS10, you can now delete those pesky Apple apps from your iPhone and no longer have to add them all to a folder called,

Flashlight

The new iOS 10 flashlight app comes with some pretty fantastic options. Your phone itself essentially becomes a dimmer switch. You can choose how the light looks and it’s way more useful!

Split Screen in Safari

Press and hold the screen in order to select “view in split screen” when using Safari. You can now use both windows independently of each other at the same time. This is great when you’re trying to work on a project or do research. Citing sources on iPads just became a whole lot easier thanks to this iOS 10 upgrade.

Music Overhaul

The Apple music app got a whole new look in iOS 10 as well! The now playing screen is much simpler and easier to navigate. You can see what is “up next” and you can add things to this to set up playlists like a DJ! Search enhancements mean it’s easier than ever to find your own music and music in the app store.

Contacts, Mail, Calendar

In iOS 10, Contacts, Mail, and Calendar are independent options in the settings panel. In previous versions these were lumped together and a bit messy. Now each app has it’s own options and you can adjust settings accordingly.

Swipe Swipe Swipe

Swiping in iOS 10 has a whole new life. You can still swipe down to see notifications; but now, when you swipe right or left you get new options and when swiping right you get an entirely customizable widget panel! When swiping on the lock screen there are some new options as well. You will still have the notifications and lock options but now you can also swipe for the camera and your widget pane.

Sleepy Time

New for iOS 10 is a redesigned clock app. You will notice right from the start that it’s a lot darker…no more retina burns late at night or early in the morning!

One great tip in this department is to take advantage of the “bedtime” tab in your clock app. It syncs up with your health app and allows you to monitor and track your sleep cycles. Apple is realizing how many long hours our phones spend in our hands and how detrimental that can be to our overall health and wellbeing. These new updates in iOS 10 are aimed at making us more efficient but also healthier!

Note’s App Collab

With the coming updates iOS 10 will allow you to add people to your notes. You can collaborate for work, send messages to your significant other, update the grocery list in real time, and so much more! You can share the note via a variety of social media sites and options which means the collaborations are basically endless!

iMessages Overhaul

iOS 10 has revealed a host of changes for iMessages. They’ve basically overhauled the entire system. There are TONS of new features and options. I’m going to list a few of the coolest ones here so you can be the first of your friends to use them…#impressive.

  • Delivery Options: you can select how each message will be delivered. You can set it to things like “invisible ink.” How freaking cool is that?!?! Simply press and hold to select how the message will deliver to the recipient.

  • I’m in a Hurry: If you want to quickly respond to any message, for whatever reason, you can tap twice on that image and a menu will pop up above the message. Select a thumbs up, a laugh, etc. and it will attach itself to the top of that message. This is a great way to acknowledge a message or image without getting locked in a text battle with a marathon texter!
